Schedule and Compensation:
Sea Change Yoga teachers communicate with staff how often they want to teach (weekly, multiple classes a week, occasional substituting, etc.) and their teaching schedules often fluctuate based on class series beginning and ending. New teachers will be assigned a class as needs arise and a good fit is identified; this may not occur immediately. Teachers often take breaks from teaching based on fluctuating schedules and demands, but we ask that teachers who wish to remain active in our community continue to attend teacher meetings.
The starting rate for teachers is $55/ hour for yoga classes and $20/ hour for all meetings attended and classes shadowed. Teacher pay rate will be examined annually to ensure our compensation policy remains in alignment with our values. The total compensation for teaching a 60-minute yoga class considers preparation and ongoing communication with staff; this time is not compensated separately. Staff communication increases with the start of a new program but generally will not exceed 1-2 hours/ month. Travel time and time finding a class substitute is not compensated.
