There Is Nothing Permanent Except Change
“There Is Nothing Permanent Except Change”- Heraclitus
Have you ever had the experience of launching a wish lantern? You light the wick, and hold the lantern steadily up to the sky until the flame gives off enough heat to lift the lantern like a hot air balloon. If you have ever experienced lighting a wish lantern, and having it lift off into the sky, you understand the experience of intuitively knowing, by the subtle way the lantern tugs upward, when you can let go and trust that the lantern will fly, bringing your fondest wishes, hopes and dreams up to the heavens. That moment of lift is magical.
When Sea Change Yoga was founded, several years ago, I knew that someday I would hand the wheel over to someone new. I trusted that when the time was right for a leadership transition, I would know. Sure enough: when the time came last summer- I knew. Like a wish lantern, the time of launch has come for Sea Change Yoga. For the past several years we have tended the pilot flame and lovingly held it aloft. Now it is ready to fly. With new leadership, vision and passion Sea Change Yoga will surely soar, bringing all of our fondest hopes and dreams with it.
Once it was decided that the time was right for new leadership, Sea Change Yoga ‘s intrepid Board of Directors sprang into action. They sifted through dozens of resumes and interviewed people from across the country until they found just the right fit. I can say, without reservation, that our new Executive Director has the exact right combination of skills and passion, vision, experience and determination to bring Sea Change Yoga strongly into the next decade and beyond. I am pleased to hand Elise Boyson the reins and eager to see how she will shape this program. Elise has an incredibly strong base upon which to build, which includes all of you- Sea Change Yoga’s supporters, friends and partners.
While I am extremely proud of all that we have accomplished together, it is with mixed emotions that I close this chapter of my life and step down as Executive Director of this organization that I love so dearly. I am sad, because I will miss all of the wonderful, talented people that I have partnered with in these past several years. I am truly excited however- because I know that I am leaving this organization on track to grow and serve even more people in the next decade. Being the leader of this organization and forging strong connections within the yoga community, partnering with other non-profits and creating this program from the ground up has been a transformative experience for me and one that I will never forget.
I could never express that feeling of sweet sadness when saying goodbye as eloquently as Winnie The Pooh once did: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Yes, very lucky indeed.
With deepest gratitude for all of the work we have accomplished together; I bid you farewell.
As always-
Diana
